Classroom Management
Effective classroom management can be the most important element to creating a safe environment where learning can flourish. This begins with the development of strong, respectful relationships between the teacher and their students as well as between the classmates themselves. Teachers that spend time building relationships with their students will save time and energy later on in the school year by having already discovered who each student is and what their specific needs are. A trusting bond can also develop more respect and motivation to complete the best work possible for students. Furthermore, it is important for teachers and students to collaborate to create rules and expectations that will exist in the classroom and contribute to their classroom climate and community for the school year. Students can be given routines and responsibilities as participation the community, which also give them a sense of accomplishment and belonging. I believe that with these foundation elements along with student engagement, the classroom is set up to run efficiently and positively for optimal learning opportunities.
"The number one problem in the classrooms is not discipline; it is lack of authentic learning tasks, procedures and routines"-Harry Wong
